Diane Morrison, Mental Health Counselor Intern

Thank you for taking this first step in your counseling journey! I enjoy helping all individuals throughout their life span; however, the aging process is my passion. Everyone experiences aging and the process is not always an easy one. Loss of independence as a result of the physical and cognitive changes that can impact activities of daily living can affect your quality of life. Illness, physical limitations, loneliness, and declining mental abilities can be challenging adjustments that result in sadness and frustration.

How I Can Help

I look forward to helping you as you meet your new challenges with tenacity and an outlook that will support you as you transition into this new life journey. Caring for your mind and body is paramount as you meet your new challenges. There is a misconception that aging means poor health. This is not always true! Many seniors are living new experiences as they learn new skills/hobbies and enjoy activities never considered….swimming, yoga, painting, volunteering, and walking groups, just to name a few. This is a time in your life where purpose has a definition that exceeds beyond raising children and sometimes experiencing retirement.
Additionally, providing emotional support for adult children and grandchildren is a need experienced by many aging adults.

Supporting them as they journey with you while you nurture your mental health struggles and decisions surrounding end-of-life is a significant component of this transition that cannot be ignored.

My experience with aging adults has been as a caregiver in group homes, assisted living, and home care. I offer energy, compassion, integrity, and motivation as I invite my clients to share their stories and help them as they learn to accept and mindfully live their journey through this stage of life while managing changing psychological and emotional needs.

About Me:

I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, have traveled to all 50 states (Alaska is my favorite), and live at home in Bothell with my dog Bo. My sons are on their own – two are in the Army and one is a project manager for a tech company. While pursuing my degree, and in my free time, I enjoy biking, hiking, and cooking.
