Jamie Elves, MA, LMHCA

I am motivated to help you foster a better understanding of your inner self to create positive and lasting change. I believe a greater appreciation of who you are at your core is key to being set free from your past and living an authentic life. I am passionate about working with you through patterns of shame, guilt, and anxiety to construct a hopeful future.

I specialize in working with teens because I understand that your current emotional state can feel like it will never end. It might be difficult to predict or control your emotional responses. Together, we will find avenues for you to understand yourself better, which will give you confidence through the stresses of young adulthood and beyond. My goal for you is to work through your pain, rather than to avoid it. We will find coping strategies that work for you, and I will be here to help you gain better awareness of yourself in order to create the life you want and deserve.

My approach to counseling is client-centered and strengths-based. We highlight your strengths as you create your own goals for therapy. I see the counseling process as a collaborative experience where you, as the client, are the expert on your own life. I draw from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). CBT will help you understand how your actions are linked to your thoughts and feelings, SFT will help you define what change you’d like to see for yourself, and DBT will give you the tools to practice emotion regulation and distress tolerance to meet your goals.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with Minors in Sociology and Religion from Pacific Lutheran University, as well as a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University. My work focuses on helping teenagers and young adults through anxiety, identity development, and life transitions. However, I welcome all clients aged 13+ who would like to establish a solid sense of self.

I invite you to reach out to me if you feel like we would be a good fit. I am fully invested in helping you harness the power you already hold to heal. I would be honored to listen to your story and walk with you in your restorative journey.
