Jamie Quinlan, Counseling Intern
Welcome, I desire to create a safe space where you can come as you are without feeling judged, explore your true self, and shine a light on areas where you feel burdened. As a counseling intern and a follower of Christ, I am passionate about helping you gain freedom from lies and beliefs that weigh you down so that you can become the person you were created to be to live a full life.
I am practically minded and utilize a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy approach to counseling. CBT aims to target negative thinking patterns affecting beliefs about who you are, as well as explore how these thoughts and beliefs affect your behaviors. Homework may be utilized to practice skills outside of counseling to target negative thoughts that affect the way you think about yourself and the world around you.
Additionally, I believe that our past and our stories are an integral part of who we are. Providing a space to share stories through Narrative Therapy lifts the burdens of past traumas that so often weigh us down. Sharing these burdens also provides a space to rewrite the often negative narrative we have lived with and gain a fresh perspective bringing healing and redemption to our stories.
About Me:
My journey of healing from past trauma is what has brought me to this place today. I received more healing, redemption, and freedom than I thought possible, and I desire to share that healing with others. I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Washington and am finishing up my Master’s in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and hope to graduate in the spring of 2025. I am a homeschooling mom of six wonderful kids, three girls, and three boys. When I am not studying or educating the kids, I love to run, garden, cheer on our little softball and baseball players, and volunteer in our church community. As an active volunteer in our church community, I have gained over twenty years of youth ministry experience working with elementary, middle, and high school-aged children. I am looking forward to meeting you and walking the journey of healing together.
